Week 12 Reflection: Future

At last, this semester will finish soon. In the final week. I did some research on where social media will head in the next few years. The popularity of social media leads to its bright future. Thus, the usage of social media will be constantly changed and adapted. For a company, using social media platforms can do advertising, marketing and enhance customer relations. Although, there are some platforms like negative comments which may cause cyber bullying. According to the article " The Future of social media ", the future of social media has seven trends: The growing role of social networks The growing role of mobile devices New feature: files storage, the ability to edit images, the ability to lead a blog in social networks, geo-social services – are already in great demand.  Visual social networks Geo-social services Automaton of SMM campaigns Social recruiting From the article " 10 Predictions For the Future of Social Media ", it states ten predi

Week 11 Reflection: Social Analytics

Nowadays, it is easy to use social media to do marketing since people use social media very often. Customers can follow everything they interest at, such as food, clothes, cars, accommodations, etc. For instance, Coles has its own Facebook page that share their new products, discounts and even cooking recipes to its followers. Hence, a company can gather necessary feedback from customers, both positive and negative comments to evaluate clients' interests and what part they need to improve. In week 11, I learnt there are two important things need to do when people analyze social media, which are measuring interactions and listening. For a company, I think measuring interactions can let it to understand audience activities and interests better. Beside, it can compare with different audience activities among different platforms. I have used Google Alerts to pay attention to Google and Amazon for one month already, and I got their updated information everyday via my email. Howev

Week 10 Reflection: Mistakes

In week 10, I learnt  social media mistakes can be devastating, both in a personal and business sense. There are many companies make mistakes every year. For instance, in 2016 the person in charge of LG’s French Twitter account sent out the following tweet playing off of consumers’ fears that the new iPhone 6 would bend and break in their pockets. The French translated text reads, “Our smartphones don’t bend, they are naturally curved.” The rub: the English at the bottom reads “via Twitter for iPhone.” However, I do not think all of companies will admit and apologize to the public after that. The first thing a company tries to do is to remove anything inappropriate online and try to deny what they did wrong. In 2008, many Chinese companies which produce baby formula were found add toxic substance illegally that will cause babies malformed even died. Only a few companies including Sanlu apologized to the public. Please see China milk Scandal . Because of strong competitions, comp

Week 9 Reflection:Social Media Campaigns

In week 9, I learnt what is social media campaign. Basically, social media campaign is a coordinated marketing effort to achieve a business goal by using one or more social media platforms. Usually campaigns are updated because of changes from company focus and targeting. I also found that Instagram account is not campaign for a firm.  Social media Campaign Strategy: What to do before during and after a campaign (Evan LePage, 2015) ? To do a social media campaign, a company should concentrate on a singular business goal each time. It is beneficial for companies to build relationships with individuals covering topics relevant to the brand in a campaign. Then, the company should choose appropriate social media platforms by understand its target audience. The company should also have a clear timeline for the campaign, a start date and end date, as well as a schedule for when marketers will be sending each social media message.  During the campaign, marketers from the company shoul

Week 8 Reflection: Social CRM

In week 8, I completed my online test. Most of questions are interesting and I need to discover answers by myself not only just read weekly documents. Since I only study in Australia for 2 years, some news I need to search on Google to get know about the whole thing first, then answer the question. As for Telstra, it bans about 49000 employees from using Facebook which make me think it is strange. Currently, using social media platforms like Facebook has already been inevitable. Besides, Facebook is also growing in popularity as a business networking tool. Telstra only thinks about threatens and is afraid of using new technology like social media. Conversely, it can just use Facebook to do marketing which may attract more potential online users. A proper way to do is to train employees how to use social media properly and appropriately. From the week 8 post, I found that social media tools and customer experience should be tied together since relationships are now seamless betw

Week 7 Reflection: Relationship Building

In week 7, I learnt how to build relationship as a marketer. From the Reddit post , there are various opinions on Ballarat minister refusing to marry a couple because they expressed they support same sex marriage on Facebook. Some people support Ballarat minister, they think blame the couple. Some think people have rights to post whatever on their Facebook. Some blame Christians and their believes. There are some arguments between different users too. From article ' What happened when I got my Facebook account disabled ', I discovered that most people like the writer only focus on using Facebook. When Facebook cannot be used, they found they lost almost all information since Facebook is connected with memories, messages, photos, groups, Pages & Events. It means the virtual world for him is almost end. It let me known that I cannot only rely on one social media application and put all important information in it for a long time. According to ' Alexa, Siri, Cortana

Week 5 & 6 Reflection:Key Platforms

Week 5 In week 5, I have learnt that content authenticity is really important for firms since more and more businesses rely on social media marketing. When companies mention about social media marketing, they often focus more on how to use platforms. However, it is more important to know how SM fit into companies' overall marketing strategy and understand the basics of how a number of the leading platforms work. According to business features, it is better to consider which social media platform is appropriate in different areas before choose one. Actually, participation doesn’t have to mean content creation either. For example, 40 per cent of users worldwide simply use Twitter as a “curated news feed of updates that reflect their passions. When I watch Q&A on TV and @QANDA #QANDA, it seems things happen really close to me because I can join in the real-time tweets. According to Techcrunch article with comments, it can be seen that social media can cause cyber-bullying
