Week 12 Reflection: Future

At last, this semester will finish soon. In the final week. I did some research on where social media will head in the next few years. The popularity of social media leads to its bright future. Thus, the usage of social media will be constantly changed and adapted. For a company, using social media platforms can do advertising, marketing and enhance customer relations. Although, there are some platforms like negative comments which may cause cyber bullying.
According to the article " The Future of social media ", the future of social media has seven trends:
  1. The growing role of social networks
  2. The growing role of mobile devices
  3. New feature: files storage, the ability to edit images, the ability to lead a blog in social networks, geo-social services – are already in great demand. 
  4. Visual social networks
  5. Geo-social services
  6. Automaton of SMM campaigns
  7. Social recruiting
From the article "10 Predictions For the Future of Social Media ", it states ten predictions:
  1. Wearable Tech Creates New Experiences
  2. Social Media “Buy” Buttons Become Commonplace
  3. Social Media Crosses Into The Workplace
  4. All-Inclusive Platforms
  5. Niche-Focused Platforms Grow Immensely
  6. The Death of Organic Reach
  7. Live Streaming Video Becomes Standard
  8. Dedicated Analytics Platforms
  9. Machine Learning Increases Efficiency
  10. Instant Content Takes Over
More and more new social media platforms will take old one's place. As for the future of social media, there is one thing I am sure, which is SM has its bright future. The development of IT leads to the innovations of social media in real time. Just like Facebook replace MySpace. In the future, I believe some new social media tools will take Facebook's place as well. Besides, social media platforms will create more functions too, including payment systems, online group meetings and scheduling timetables, etc. Another prediction is the populations of social media users will increase in the future. The improvement of technology will let social media become more and more humanized. It can know which person you will contact when you driving because of personalized settings. For an organization, it is necessary to post unique content and use social media as a relationship builder rather than a selling tool to fit in social media environment.
